Skye McAlpine and her family are dividing their time between Venice and London, but when they are in Venice, they live in my neighborhood where she grew up. For this reason, I was especially curious to read her first book, A Table in Venice.

Others tell the story of the past and of the present of this countryside surrounding the Lagoon, with many similarities and yet, there’s a distinctive presence.
This book feels like you’re taking a seat in a country kitchen and enjoying breakfast on the patio. And in the far distance, imagine the marshlands announcing the Lagoon and listen to the cicades in summer and wild ducks in the winter.
